It appears that our wedding is truly the gift that keeps on giving. As if it wasn’t enough to share our perfect day with family and friends, it looks like the folks over at The Knot magazine have seen fit to share our big day with the world! We were selected as one of only four “Real Weddings” to be featured in the Summer 2010 print issue. Next time you’re by the news stand, check it out! We were also honored as a “Knot Pick” in their online gallery. Big thanks to our amazing team who helped design, plan, organize, and document our wedding. This recognition is for each of you and is well deserved.

New Year, New Photos!

We hope you had a wonderful holiday season. As we usher in the new year, we are thrilled to share our photos from the wedding! Thanks to Jen Kroll for sorting through nearly 6,000 photos, picking out the best, and making a terrific slide show. We’ve been having a great time looking through the photos and seeing all the wonderful details that Alicia at A Day In May put in place. To be honest, things went by so quickly on our big day, that we are so thankful to have had such a top notch team documenting the occasion for us. If the photos are this good, we can’t even wait to see the video!

What a perfect day!

Our big day went off without a hitch. We were greeted by crystal clear blue skies, 72 degrees, a gentle breeze, and the bright smiling faces of our friends and family. We simply could not have asked for more. We would like to thank everyone for making the trip and celebrating this day with us. Big thanks to our amazing team behind the scenes, A Day in May, who helped us design the event and made sure everything flowed seamlessly.

For those who were unable to attend, here’s a quick recap (many details omitted):

The ceremony was held lakeside, with the honorable Reverend Robin presiding over a service that had something for everyone: laughs, tears, and bits of Hebrew, Yiddish, and Korean. Afterward, our guests were treated to cocktails on the beach while we roamed around the ranch with our talented photography and videography teams. Before long, the dinner bell was rung and we started the reception in a beautifully restored hundred year-old barn. The Rhythm Section big band provided a touch of class and elegance to reception and were a terrific soundtrack for the evening. After the first dances, our guests enjoyed local and organic fare freshly prepared by John & Tracie at the El Dorado. The pumpkin ginger bisque was a personal favorite! As night fell, the sky opened onto a brilliant display of the Milky Way and our guests dined on the freshly baked pies, cupcakes, and ridiculously delicious wedding cake.

The evening was full of surprises and there was never a dull moment: We were greeted with beautiful hand-made hawaiian leis, we were honored with stunning custom tailored han-boks (Korean formal wear), and we were made speechless by the touching toasts made by family and friends. Later, we cut loose and had the opportunity to perform a few songs with the ten-piece band. Rumor has it, even Elvis couldn’t miss this party and made an impromptu appearance. Don’t believe us? You’ll have to wait for the video!

We were so happy to see our guests crowding the dance floor and enjoying themselves. We were having so much fun that we decided to eschew the traditional exit and stick around. As the evening drew to a close, our guests were sent off with fresh pumpkin donuts and spiced cider. (Many decided to take the centerpieces full or local apple varieties as well!) Like we said at the start, it was absolutely perfect. Thank you!

It’s hard to believe that our big day is finally within sight! Thank you for the wonderful cards and most generous gifts. We are humbled to have such wonderful friends and family. Here is some last minute info, as you plan your trip:

Weather:
The weather is forecast to be sunny with temperatures in the upper 60s/lower 70s. Be sure to bring a jacket as the temp will drop down to the 50s at night.

Friday evening:
While there are no scheduled wedding events Friday evening, we recommend exploring downtown Traverse City and its many fine restaurants, cafes, and shops. Specific recommendations can be found on the Guest Info page.

Saturday (The Big Day):
On Saturday, please plan to arrive at Crooked Creek Ranch no later than 3:30pm as you will need time to park and walk down to the lake for our ceremony. Driving may take around 30mins from downtown Traverse City. Click here for directions. Dinner and entertainment will follow into the wee hours.
